Class One - The New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17 says ‘therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.”
Ephesians 2:10 says “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.”
These scriptures makes us to know that when a man gets born again, he is no longer the person he used to be but he is now a new creature, with a new kind of life. He may not look so in his body, but in his spirit, he is a new man; (because man is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body.) This man is one who never existed or pre-existed. He is created with the nature of God in his spirit.
Born of God
John 1:12-13 says “but as many as received him to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born not of Blood nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but of God”.
We, who are saved are God’s children. As soon as we believed and confess Jesus into our heart to be our Lord and Savior, we became God’s children. (Romans 10: 9-10, 1 John 5:1) that is why we cry ‘Abba father’ because the very life of God in us makes us his son.
Salvation by Grace
Ephesians 2:2-10 says “wherein in time past we walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now work in the children of disobedience:among whom also we all in time past in the lust of our flesh and of the mind and were by nature the children of wrath even as other were… for by Grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourself it is the gift of God :not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them”. see also Romans 4:17
Salvation is by grace. Christ miraculously destroyed the penalty of sins and its power over us on the cross. Through faith in Christ, we stand acquitted; not guilty before God. Grace means unmerited favor. Grace is not a reward; you don’t have to work for it. Our works do not save us; the Bible says that when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Now we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Righteousness is counted unto us for believing in Jesus. Bible says Abraham believed God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness.
Assurance of Salvation
How are you sure that you are born again?
1. The Word
Sometimes the devil likes to deceive God’s children by making us feel we are not saved. Our assurance of salvation is not through our feelings. You are sure you are born again because the Word of God says so and God’s Word is true.
Romans 10:9-13 says “if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with thine heart, man believeth unto righteousness and with thy mouth confession is made unto salvation…”
1 John 5:9-13 says “God Himself witness that our salvation is assured by the belief in our hearts and the confession that our mouth made.
2. The witness of the Holy Spirit
You know you are born again by the witness of the Spirit.
Romans 8:16 says “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God”.
By the Spirit of God, we know we are saved. Bible says no one can say Jesus is Lord expect by the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit witnesses with our spirit that’s alive to God that we are saved, born of God.

Remission from the unregenerate:
Remission means washing away of sins. Jesus Christ when he died on the cross of Calvary died for the whole world. All those that are not born again are entitled to remission. They have an un-regenerated human spirit, because they are not yet born again, but their sins are remitted when they confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Acts 2:38 says “then Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost”
Matthew 26:28
Ephesians 1:7
When a sinner comes to Christ, he does not receive forgiveness of sins. What he got was remission of sins. Remission is the actual washing away of sins in such a way that the sin never existed before. Unbelievers cannot ask God for forgiveness because forgiveness belongs only to those that are in a relationship with God but remission is for sinners.
Ephesians 1:8
Forgiveness for the Christian
When a Christian sins, there is forgiveness for him. It does not mean that because he made a mistake he is no more a Christian. He is still a Christian. He does confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ any longer, all he needs do is to ask God to forgive him as the scripture says and he will be forgiven.
1 John 1:9-10 says “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us form all unrighteousness”
John 2:1-3
Man is a spirit; he has a soul and lives in a body
The spirit man got saved and he lives on the Word of God. The fruit of the recreated human spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 says “ ”
The mind of a Christian is renewed by the Word of God. That means if what he used to believe that is not in line with the Word of God, he throws it out of his mind and put what God’s Word says about that thing to replace it.
The Christian brings His body under subjection of the Word of God.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says “and the very God of peace sanctify you; wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Colossians 3:5 says “mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate, affection, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
Ephesians 4:21-22 says “if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”
